About

The Time Bum is an independent watch review site. For more information or to have your product reviewed, please contact us at info@thetimebum.com.

You can also find us on Instagram, our primary social media outlet. We also have accounts on WatchCrunch, Threads, and Facebook. We maintain a Pinterest account, too, but without much enthusiasm.

Loren Sciurba, Founder, Editor-in-Chief

Loren founded The Time Bum in 2013. He is an avid watch enthusiast, prolific reviewer, and unrepentant cheapskate. While he appreciates watches of all kinds, he has a soft spot for microbrands and independents. In addition to being a watch nerd, he is a husband and father who enjoys good food and old cars. If you really want to know more, see his interview with AboutTime.

Lauren C., Contributor

Lauren (yes, we have a Loren and a Lauren) is @Watchmakers.daughter on Instagram. As she explains, “the hazard of being a watchmaker’s kid is that you don’t actually remember your first watch, but it does mean that you always had something fun to talk about at show-and-tell. I had no choice but to love watches from a young age.” When she is not hanging off the side of a bridge in her real job as a structural engineer, she enjoys finding vintage watches that the internet has forgotten.

Nathaniel DeNicola, Contributor

Nate is a doctor and watch enthusiast in Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles, California. He has an impressive collection with a particular focus on American brands, and a penchant for thoughtful and well-researched “best-of” lists. You can follow him on Instagram at @ndenicola.

J.P. Ishaq, Contributor

Apart from an incurable watch addiction, JP leads the product management team at an east coast tech company and occasionally writes a novel. His watch collection lives on Instagram at @ghostandcrown.

Robbie & Watches, Contributor

Robbie always wore a watch, but his real passion for them started around 2013, and he hasn’t looked back. He was always drawn to mechanics but never became an expert, so he focused instead on different styles and variations of watches. After that, photography came naturally as he learned to capture the way that he saw dials, hands, and complications.  Before long, he felt the urge to share his passion on more than social media, and he began writing reviews, analyzing the myriad ways watchmakers explore design. We are pleased to have him on the team as our man in London. You can see more of his work on Instagram (@robbieandwatches) and his own site Robbie & Watches.

Matt Kessler-Cleary, Contributor

Matt is a lifelong watch lover but fell deep down the rabbit hole of horological madness in 2018 while listening to watch podcasts during 4-hour roundtrip commutes to work. His collection is mostly sports watches, likely due to an unfulfilled childhood dream to be Indiana Jones, and ensuing delusions of grand adventure. He lives in Northern Virginia with his wonderful wife, who, through sheer strength of spirit, manages not to fall asleep as soon as he starts talking about watches. You can follow him on Instagram at @Mattkaysea.

D.C. Hannay, Contributor

D.C. is a writer, commercial producer, voiceover artist, musician, and advertising copywriter from New York, writing professionally for over 20 years. He’s been fascinated with watches his whole life, beginning with his father’s 1970 Breitling Navitimer, and will always have a soft spot for anything Casio. You can follow him on Instagram at @dchannay and check out his website dchannay.com.

James Lambert, Contributor

James lives – but does not work – on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. He fell in love with watches because he often needs to know what time it is at any given moment. His interests are stubbornly anti-trend and often tacky. He speaks German, but will not be writing reviews in that language…yet. You can follow him on Instagram at @gutuna01.
