Microbrand Meetup 2017

The Microbrand Meetup is back! Once again, Bill McDowell of McDowell Time, and I invite you to come to our nation’s capital to shop for some great micro and independent brand watches, hang out with fellow watch nerds, and maybe win a watch for yourself. The event is Sunday, November 19, 2017, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm at the District Architecture Center, 421 7th Street NW, Washington, DC 20004.

Our goal is to bring small watch brands under one roof so you can try out watches that you would normally only see on your computer monitor. We attempted this for the first time last year and were blown away by the turnout. While it was great fun to see so many watch nerds in one room, it was also pretty crowded. This time, we have booked The District Architecture Center (DAC), a premium venue in downtown DC. The DAC’s award-winning open design features glass walls and floors that provide natural light throughout, perfect for watches. It is conveniently located on the Metro line and within short walking distance of the city’s top restaurants, museums, and hotels. Both street and garage parking are available nearby.

In addition the vendor tables in the main areas, this time we will have dedicated rooms and tables where enthusiasts may display their own collections, just like a typical watch get-together. Previous DC gatherings have attracted an amazing array of watches from private collections, and this one promises the same. Whatever you’ve got, we want to see it. From everyday beaters to pricey exotics and obscure vintage pieces, we welcome them all. If you plan to display, please contact us in advance so we can be sure everyone has space.

So far, participants include: Aquadive, Bausele, BOLDR, Brew Watch Company, Carpenter Watches, Clockwork Synergy, Doxa, DC Vintage Watches, Gruppo Gamma, Janis Trading (Lew & Huey and NTH), ISOfrane, Jenny, Manchester Watch Works, McDowell Time, Mercer Watch Company, Ocean Crawler, Tsao Baltimore, Ventus, WatchGauge, and Zelos. We expect more to be added soon. In addition, Borealis Watches has contributed Oceanaut and Porto Santo dive watches to be raffled off at the event.

So we will have watches to see and buy, the company of fellow watch nerds, microbrand owners to answer your questions, some light refreshments, and the chance to win some awesome prizes. Oh, and did I mention that attendance is free?

You don’t want to miss this. For more information and updates, see microbrandmeetup.com.

Hope to see you there! ⬩
