Beaubleu Ecce Figura

Beaubleu first caught my eye about a year ago when I saw the Ecce at Windup NYC in 2023. I was with friends and couldn’t stop, but the dial and case design stuck in my brain. Fast forward to 2025, and I was able to properly introduce myself to the brand at Windup this fall and arrange to bring their Ecce Figura in for review.

Beaubleu Ecce Figura

The Ecce Figura builds on the brand’s signature circular handset in a distinctive rectangular case. The mix of finishes and geometry gives the case a lot of depth despite measuring only 8.6mm thick. The sharp transitions from straight, brushed surfaces to polished curved ones catch the light and bring your eye straight to the dial. The cutouts around the lugs for the strap come to sharp edges – be careful running your fingers around them. While the case corners appear curved at first glance, the corners are actually chamfered. The geometry is carried from the outside edge of the case all the way to the seconds track printed on the dial. The flat sapphire crystal fits exactly within this unusual geometry and provides a crystal clear view to the dial and the hands skimming over it.

The Ecce Figura collection offers a variety of dial designs. You have the option of metallic brushed dials in rose gold or silver, wax-stamped dials in blue or black, and white dials, either printed or chiseled. I was sent the Alba, the printed white dial variant. The sharply printed dial gives the watch a vaguely Art Deco aesthetic, but modernized by Beaubleu’s signature circular handset. The blued minute and hour hands provide stability on the dial as the silvered seconds hand rotates smoothly around. The unusual shape of the second hand makes the movement seem more irregular and mesmerizing than a typical time-only watch.

On my 6.5” wrist, the 39mm x 30mm case has presence without overwhelming my wrist. The fact that the watch is less than 9mm thick definitely helps keep the watch feeling slim and tight to my wrist. The crown steps down to the signed logo in an excellent echo of the case design. The sizing makes the crown easy to manipulate but unobtrusive. My one complaint about the crown is that there is a ghost position, a minor nitpick in an otherwise excellent design.

Beaubleu assembles and regulates the Ecce Figura in their Paris workshop, using a Miyota 9015 to power the watch. They regulate the movements to within +/- 9 seconds per day, according to their website. The watch sent for review definitely performed within this specification. I did not test the 3ATM water resistance rating engraved on the back of the case. Given that the caseback is secured by four screws and not screwed in, 3 ATM makes sense. This is a watch you wear to the office in the rain, not into the swimming pool.

The Ecce Figura can ship with either an 18mm steel scale mesh strap or a grained leather strap. Both are available for separate sale on Beaubleu’s website if you change your mind after ordering.

The leather strap molded around my wrist immediately. The signed butterfly deployant clasp reduces the stress on the strap. The clasp included with the review watch was a basic version with “Beaubleu” engraved across the keeper. The clasps shown on the website feature the Beaubleu logo as the keeper, hopefully an upgrade for the production models.

The brushed steel mesh strap curved smoothly around my wrist with no flat spots or odd geometry. The monogrammed seatbelt style clasp makes it easy to adjust on the fly. Both strap options feature quick-release spring bars, so swapping between them or any other strap is an easy exercise. The generous lug cutouts in the case should easily fit thicker straps; just be aware of those sharp edges I mentioned earlier.

With the Ecce Figura, Beaubleu pushed their design language into a new shape with great success. Putting a circular aesthetic into a mostly rectangular form resulted in a watch that is mesmerizing, comfortable, and distinctive. Starting at $1,012 (add about $113 if you want the metal strap), the watch is a great value for someone who wants something out of the ordinary and impeccably designed. The Ecce Figura ships starting in December, timed to hit the new year with a new style. Head to the Beaubleu website to check them out in more detail.
